How can I, except someone guide me?
- Tol Burk
You remember the Ethiopian Eunuch, in Acts 8. As he is returning
from worshipping at Jerusalem he is reading in the book of Isaiah,
chapter 53. As he reads along, Phillip approaches him and asks him
if he understands what he is reading. His reply is "how can I
except someone guide me." Immediately he asked Phillip to teach
him, which he does. Wouldn't you like to find someone like that?
Someone who just wants to know the truth and once he/she learns it, to
just do it? Of course.
I just received a letter from a preacher in Mexico in which he relates
he made contact with some members of a Christian church. After
several studies, they began to see that some things they were doing were
not according to the Bible. As they continued to study they made
the necessary changes. Even the preacher changed and as he was the
professor in the "Bible College" of the Christian church (he has since
resigned from it), he has been able to teach a number of young men who
were already preparing to be preachers to preach all of the truth, not
just the parts they were formerly preaching. We thank God for
people who are willing to let another guide them to the truth.
How did brother Moises find these people? He was just open to
anyone who seemed to want to know more about the Word of God. We
can all do the same thing - get to know people, be aware of whether they
are interested in spiritual things or not, and set them up with someone
who can teach them more fully if they are.
